I have found these practice pipes to be very good. As a beginner, I found them quite accessible and a good point of entry to the pipes, a difficult instrument. These pipes produce a good sound which is powerful enough to produce a good effect at dinner parties (such as a private Burns supper). If I can pass on one tip, I would say that it is essential to have the drones tuned in well. Once they are, the chanter sound comes through properly. If they are not, the chanter sound is not distinct and this particulary applies to the top notes such as A.
